Welcome to the first on-line community for customers, communities, and bankers of institutions that have been impacted by the current financial crisis, or are interested in learning more about its potential impact on them and their communities.

This is primarily an opportunity for  those that have been directly affected by a bank closing to come together to share stories and insights about their particular institution, comment on the latest news or broader problems affecting the industry, and to provide and get access to resources to help them answer their questions or move into a new career.  All postings are the opinions of those who post them or the authors, and every attempt has been made to give credit to the source of the information.

As for the list of failed banks, as they are identified by FDIC they will be added to the site, and people can then begin commenting about their experiences at the particular institution, as well as share any local, regional, and national news stories about their, or other institutions.  The hope is that this becomes a national resource for those interested in studying and learning from what has happened and is still occurring.

All you need to do to begin is to use the Search Box at the top of the newspaper, enter the topic or institution you are interested in, review the list of references or posts it finds, and then submit your comment - anonymously if you want by registering with a user name of your choice.  Also, if you have a link, a news article, or a resource you feel would benefit others, please submit it as a post, or if you have ideas for new columns, guest commentators, or sections send us a note at info@shutdownat5.com and we will consider adding it.

While you have to provide a valid email address to send your activation link, it is not displayed or provided to anyone without your express permission.  Once you have received your PASSWORD all you have to do is Log-In using the link at the bottom of the page and you can comment on any post without having to Log-In again!   You can also customize your Dashboard, change your Password, and view and track your posts and all related responses.
